By creating an account or using GameOverNever you accept these terms. Read them together with the privacy policy, which explains what data we process.
What GameOverNever is
GameOverNever is an app and a website to look up video games on every platform, keep your library (wishlist, backlog, playing, completed and dropped, with your rating, hours and review), get recommendations and follow other players. It is free. GameOverNever does not sell games.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. We ask for your date of birth to check it.
- You can sign in with your email and password, with Google, with Apple or with Steam, and join several of them in the same account.
- Your account is personal. You are responsible for keeping your password safe.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete my account (or as explained in how to delete your data).
What you publish and the community rules
Your handle, name, motto and reviews are yours. What you make public (your profile, your published reviews and your activity) can be seen by others according to the privacy you choose. By publishing it you grant us a free, non-exclusive licence to show it within GameOverNever while it stays published.
There is no room on GameOverNever for offensive content or for anyone who harasses other players. Do not publish anything that:
- Insults, harasses, threatens or humiliates anyone.
- Is discriminatory or incites hatred or violence.
- Contains explicit sexual content.
- Spoils a game without marking it as “Contains spoilers”.
- Is spam or advertising, or contains links or contact details.
- Infringes the intellectual property of others.
- Impersonates someone else or publishes anyone's personal data.
Before anything is published, a filter stops insults, hate terms, links and contact details. Anyone can report a review or a profile from its menu (“⋯”) and block its author. We review reports within 24 hours, and a review with three reports is hidden in the meantime. If something breaks these rules we remove it and, in serious or repeated cases, we take away that account's ability to publish or delete it. Whoever published something that was reported never learns who reported it. If we hide something of yours and you think it is a mistake, write to us at gameovernever@gitthreelab.com.
Level, experience and achievements
Level, experience and achievements are a game inside the app: they have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for anything. To keep them fair, experience has limits (for example, how many completed games count in full per day), and we may recalculate the level of an account that has cheated.
Game data
Game data (names, dates, platforms, covers, screenshots and ratings) comes from IGDB.com; some synopses from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0), with their link; and some data from Wikidata (CC0). Covers, screenshots and the names of games, platforms and stores belong to their owners. We do our best to keep the data accurate, but it may contain errors.
GameOverNever is not affiliated with Valve (Steam), Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or any publisher. Importing your Steam library uses Steam's public API with your permission.
Advertising and links
GameOverNever is free and is funded by advertising (Google AdMob in the app and Google AdSense on the web). Ads never interrupt a game page or the gesture of marking a game. If the app ever links you to a store to buy a game, some links may be affiliate links (earning us a commission at no cost to you), and we will say so next to them. We are not responsible for the terms, prices or availability of those stores.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use GameOverNever for illegal purposes.
- Try to access our systems or other people's accounts without permission.
- Extract the catalogue data in bulk (scraping) or automate accounts.
- Interfere with the normal operation of the service or its ads.
Limitation of liability
GameOverNever is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that it is free of errors or interruptions, and we are not liable for indirect damages arising from its use.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If the change is significant, we will let you know in the app. Continuing to use GameOverNever afterwards means you accept it.
